IT'S BEEN A WHILE...

...since my last post. I've only been "somewhat" busy, and could have squeezed in a post or two these last few months but I didn't . Because I was just being lazy. It's ok to be lazy every now and then, so I'm not beating myself up about it.

In other news, I recently submitted pictures of my dining room/home office to Lucky Magazine. They're looking for the best home spaces that have a "dual use". The winner will get featured in an upcoming issue. I love my apartment and I'm always up for showing it off so, I'm kind of excited that the editors at Lucky will not only rest their eyes on my beautiful space, but they'll also (fingers crossed) take a look at Beautifulshyt! I included a little blurb about why my space is so awesome and a link to my shop so, hopefully they'll like me the best (who doesn't?).

SOMETHING NEW

 For the first time, in many years, I feel like I'm actively seeking out activities that make me happy and fulfilled. Photography is one of those things. I recently bought a Canon T2i - mainly to take pictures of my products on Etsy but, also to satisfy a desire I've always had to take creative photos. After styling so many photo shoots over the years, it was a little weird to be the one actually capturing the images, but it was also quite thrilling. Once we were done shooting all of my products for Beautifulshyt, Caitlyn and I took an hour out and shot these images in my apartment. 

Doing what you love - even if it's only a hobby - makes life more beautiful and bearable, especially when life takes it's unexpected turns.

A LITTLE PUSH

With my first official post of 2011, I'd like to wish everyone a Happy New Year! I feel like everything (good and bad) that happened to me last year, was leading me to this moment and this year - which I have a feeling will be one of the best years of my life. Just like everyone, I've struggled with confidence and believing in myself but, recently I've become a believer in the Power of Positive Thinking. If you believe you won't succeed - then you won't. WE create our world with our thoughts - so if you believe you will be successful, then YOU WILL. Changing the way you think is hard - especially if you're not used to thinking positively about yourself - but it CAN be done. It's a process - don't give up! So whatever goal you set for this year don't "hope" to achieve it. "BELIEVE", and it will happen.

NEW ADDITIONS

Every item that I list on Etsy is an item that I would wear. Every time I list a jacket or a pair of shoes, I always second guess myself: "Maybe I should keep this one..." or "These would be so cute with my suede dress!" Sometimes I wait a few days to post an item because I love it so much. I hope that the love that I have for Vintage shines through in these New Additions to my shop. Let me know what you guys think!

THANK YOU GRANNY

I hope everyone's Holiday has been special and full of family and friends. Mine definitely was. Especially since I've gotten gifts that I actually LIKE! For instance my Granny - who usually gives me girdles and highwater panties - gave me this really beautiful ceramic leaf dish. I love the colors and the faux woodgrain underbelly - it's very 70's.  Luckily, over the years, my Granny has given me some really amazing antique pieces of furniture - which was really helpful when I got my first place and had a limited budget. Don't be afraid to hit up relatives for furniture. I'm still trying to convince my Granny to give me one of her antique carved Japanese Dragon chairs (*see below). She hasn't said yes...YET.

C & T: PART DEUX

I really love this jacket. So much so, that I decided to feature it in the first Ad for Beautifulshyt. Over the summer, I was obsessed with watching Miami Vice on Hulu...maybe that has something to do with it...

CROCKETT & TUBBS

Out of all the gems that I've added this week, this one - by far, is my favorite. The structure. The lines. It's very sexy...in an 80's, Miami Vice sort of way. All it needs is a white Lamborghini and a gun that never runs out of bullets...

XMAS: 4 AM

...and I have yet to sleep a wink.

MR. TELLIER

How I Love him. Every time I listen any of his songs, I always hear something new...and I'm touched all over again. There's so much Feeling in this particular piece - Le Long de la Riviere Tendre - that there's no need for words.

BACK TO BASICS

Life is always most complicated when you're trying too hard. Step back from your life. Instead of doing what you THINK you should do - do what feels good. Do what feels RIGHT. I'm much happier for it.
